Until this song dropped a couple of days ago, I didn’t even know that Yellowcard, one of my favorite bands from my preteen years, was coming out with a new album. Now that I’ve heard “Awakening”, I can’t wait for August 14th, when the new album Summer Air will finally be available. I can’t point out exactly what the change is, but there is a difference in lead singer Ryan Key’s vocals and both the YouTube audience and me are noticing and appreciating it. There’s something about it that’s richer. It lends itself even better to the beautiful lyrics this band is known for without changing the sound of the overall song. It’s not different, it’s just more. Enjoy “Awakening” and get excited for August 14th!
